Love Cate Blanchett brilliantly beautiful & talented! Brits, Aussies and Kiwi actors are excellent. Their entertainment completely outshines Hollywood. Can’t stand all the violence, poor story lines, excessive swearing, bad love scenes & talentless American acting.

Somerset Maugham once wrote: "I can’t think of a single Russian novel in which one of the characters goes to a picture gallery." The chances are that he would have written the same for the characters in this movie.
I guess I'm just too stupid for this movie. Yeah, yeah: superb acting, impressive cinematography, great film-making, no doubt – but 70 minutes in and I'm still not sure who is related to who and how and why; I haven't sussed out this dark backstory that keeps being alluded to, haven't perceived much in the way of a plot – and I don't much care what happens to any of these people. I'm out.

I dont understand why she keeps this kind of close "Toxic" relantionship,when the first rule on the "book" for quit Heroin,its changing everything that remindes you of that shit,specialy people.

Iam saying this because i spent 34 years of my life on Heroin,in a very Toxic relantionship ,and when you trying to get clean,the first thing,its get rid of those people,because they dont care abaut you,they only want to use you.Again and again and again,without sorrow or regret.
Its a dirty,lousy and Horrible "life".

This is one of the greatest films to ever come out of Australia. An absolute travesty that hardly anyone has seen it as well. It's perfect and the use of flametrees by the school choir is just sensational.

wish I'd read the comments before I tortured myself trying to hear this Too low sound. Then put closed caption on. That doesn't get the aussie accents. So you read between the lines Untill your so confused Not sure what happened or why. Not recommended. Lots of energy spend figuring this out. If it wasn't for Cates acting; I'd not wasted this time. Never gonna get that almost 2 hours in my life back. Yikes
