“I am a hard marker when it comes to military-related films. As a combat veteran myself, I can vouch for this one. Those who find it “unconvincing” are just naive to the reality of coming “home” after desperately hoping & fighting to get back, only to find no home left. To find that the sacrifice did not lead to more prosperous opportunities, that people don’t understand you, and that even though it feels like everything has been taken from you, somehow you still miss the experience that made you feel so alive and on the edge. You miss your brothers. It’s an incredibly difficult thing to transition back into society after surviving with a group of people holding so close to the heart this notion of your home, wherever that is, and making it back to realize it doesn’t exist anymore. You aren’t the same and you never will be. It’s like a whole new, more f’ed up phase of mental hardships that blindsided you. And I could write a book.
There’s the reality of this emotion and then there’s the attempt to express it. So I want to give this movie real props for getting it close enough to keep my attention. In fact, I totally fell into it and related to many scenes. I reflected about myself and how I am towards others at times. I reflected about how much I’ve gone on these respites alone in nature, just walking and wanting to be alone. So I don’t think I spoiled anything in this review that isn’t suggested in a preview. I just needed to write a review for the first time ever because I feel like this film deserves credit. And Bryan Kaplan did a fantastic job. That is all.”

He’s looking a chubby to be in the homeless, walking a dozen miles every day situation…plus, as a marine he’d never refer to himself as a ‘soldier’. That’s army specific. A marine is a marine.

It's such a realistic movie based on the harsh reality that some unfortunate people have to deal with. Billions of people like Justin are trying everything just to stay normal and just get through all of it. This movie truly deserves much more appreciation.
Bryan Kaplan is an incredible actor. Although I've never served, I had a knot in my stomach throughout this movie. Thank you all for your service.

I thank them for standing for peace and honouring their own lives.

Actors were excellent…this is true PTSD….any tik tokker claiming to have it is a kick in the face to these brave shattered souls that suffer tremendously from it.

The best interpretation of post-military life I've ever seen on film. It captures that disillusioned and lost feeling veterans get when coming back into civilian life perfectly. I've been searching for this movie for years since I saw it back in 2013 and now finally found it!

The us military and VA has a responsibility to be taking care of these soldiers.

Very moving but highlights the disgrace and appalling disregard that most countries have for their ex servicemen who have given their all to fight for their country.. Shame on all our governments!
Shame on the VA bureaucracy for not facilitating service-related disabilities claims for the Veteran. Instead, they refer them to a service organization or a law firm that charges 33% of claimants benefits if successful.
Come on guys….the ending? Really?
