Nigeria is a collateral damage in the unfortunate issue of Islamists. US and NATO destroyed Libya. Nigerian army has been declining over the decades due to embargos placed on that country by the US and its Western allies, as well as the corruption of the leaders in Nigeria who divert money allocated to arms…situation for the perfect disaster. Only people close to the armed forces of Nigeria would know the sacrifices those soldiers on the ground are making, total respect to them. In spite all odds, what Nigeria has managed to do in dealing with Boko Haram in the North East, and terrorists, no European country (including UK, France, Germany) could have done it. Sambisa forest, for context, is the size of Scotland. Due to ethnic ties, there is no strict border control between Nigeria and its neighbours, these are border line spanning several thousands of kilometers with thousands of communities along the border (short history; the region used to be full of empires, but European colonialists came, drew lines all over the place to create their own countries, those lines cutting through families and empires, dividing them. So parts of empires and extended families live in different countries today. The people cross back and forth without goverment impedance to be able to see their family members across the divide in different countries). Thus, there was free flow of people back and forth, including terrorists. Boko Haram got a lot of man power from the middle east and other extremists across the African continents, Libyan weapons and weapons sold by Western private arms suppliers (White people flying helicopters into Sambisa to deliver weapons to Boko Haram, witnessed by thousands of people living in that region and Prisoners held in the captive of Boko Haram..). These were all the things that Nigerian armed forces had to deal with, while not been able to buy weapons because of the US and its allies having embargoes against the country.

Welldone to Nigerian military for what they have done, achieving su much with so little in their fight against terrorism. A fight that did not chose to go into but was brought upon them by the adventurism of the West in Islamic countries. This is a story no Western media would ever tell.
