READ THROUGH FOR BETTER UNDERSTANDING
1. What really happened:
• The real Rogue (the assassin) attacked Tom Lone’s home.
• Rogue killed Lone’s wife and daughter.
• But he did not kill Tom Lone.

2. Tom Lone kills the real Rogue
After Rogue kills his family:
• Tom Lone fights Rogue.
• Tom Lone kills Rogue in revenge.
•
3. Tom Lone becomes “Rogue”
To get deeper revenge on the Triads and Yakuza (who ordered the hit),
Tom Lone:
• destroys his old identity
• surgically alters his face
• adopts Rogue’s identity
• works inside the criminal underworld to destroy them from within
So Jet Li’s character is actually Tom Lone the whole time, wearing the identity of Rogue.
❗Why Crawford thinks Tom Lone is dead
The real Rogue burned Lone’s house and body remains were faked/misidentified.
So Crawford truly believes his partner Tom Lone is dead.
This is why:
• he is devastated
• he becomes obsessed with catching Rogue
• he feels responsible
He has no idea that the “Rogue” he is chasing is actually his old partner Tom Lone.

DON'T FORGET TO REMEMBER THAT…
only Tom Lone’s wife and daughter died.
Tom Lone survived, killed Rogue, and took Rogue’s identity.
The movie wants you to believe Tom Lone died — until the final twist reveals the truth.

✅ Why “Rogue” (Tom Lone) killed Crawford at the end
Even though Tom Lone and John Crawford were partners and friends, Tom kills Crawford because Crawford betrayed him — indirectly but seriously.
Here’s exactly what happened in the story:
💠 1. The REAL reason Tom Lone’s family was killed
The hit on Tom Lone’s family was ordered by the Triads, but they succeeded only because Crawford leaked information.
Crawford had been secretly working with the Triads for money.
He didn’t know he was endangering Tom, but his cooperation allowed the gang to:
• locate Tom Lone
• identify his home
• plan the attack
• send Rogue to kill him
So, from Tom’s point of view:
Crawford’s corruption caused his wife and daughter to be murdered.
He didn’t pull the trigger, but he was part of the chain that made it possible.
💠 2. Crawford’s guilt
When Crawford confronts Tom at the end, he admits that:
• he had been bribed by the Triads
• he passed sensitive information
• he didn’t realize his actions would lead to the murder of Lone’s family
• he has felt guilty ever since
• he wants forgiveness
This is why he breaks down emotionally and says:
“I’m sorry… I didn’t know…”
He truly didn’t know the Triads would kill Lone’s family.
But he DID betray his partner and cause the tragedy.
💠 3. Why Tom doesn’t forgive him
To Tom Lone (“Rogue”):
• his wife and child are dead
• Crawford’s choices enabled it
• Crawford kept his corruption secret
• Tom suffered for years while Crawford lived normally
• Crawford only confessed when cornered
• The damage is irreversible
So Tom’s mindset is:
“You helped kill my family.
You don’t deserve forgiveness.”
💠 4. Tom Lone killing Crawford is personal revenge
Tom spent years destroying the Triads and Yakuza from the inside, but he still had one betrayal left unresolved.
Crawford.
So in the final moment:
• Crawford wants redemption
• Tom wants closure
• Tom chooses vengeance, not forgiveness
This is why he shoots and kills Crawford at the end.
⭐ Final Summary (Very Simple)
• Crawford accidentally helped the Triads by feeding them info.
• That info led to the murder of Tom Lone’s family.
• Tom became Rogue to get revenge on everyone involved.
• At the end, Tom kills Crawford because, to him, he was part of the betrayal.
